MUSINGS ON MIRACLES AND RISKS

Risk is a favorite topic of mine… probably because God is most visible at those edges.

Of course God exists in all parts of our life, but God is far less visible in what is predictable and mundane.

It isn’t until things get shaken up that you ✨really✨ see the divinity shine through.

Miracles don’t thrive in predictable soil. 🌱

Not because they’re not happening, but because you’re mostly nose-blind to them.

I see risk as being any deviation from what you’re comfortable with, or what is already known. Any time you venture outside this status quo and open yourself to a new possibility… you’re taking a risk. But you’re also opening yourself up to all the miracles and goodies you wouldn’t otherwise be able to see.

This begs the question: is what you truly desire for yourself and your life going to come from the realm of what you already know and what you’re currently comfortable with?

God will meet you in baby steps if that’s as far as you’d like to go…

But he will also just as easily meet you in great leaps if you’re open to it. 🪂

There are typically two schools of thought about risk…

The first will tell you that if you’re not taking big risks, God won’t deliver your goods. (Which is bullshit. Your receiving isn’t conditional like that.)

The second will tell you that you shouldn’t push your nervous system beyond its capacity. (Which is also bullshit. If you want to grow and increase your capacity for most the stuff you want, you can’t baby the nervous system either.)

If you baby the nervous system and let it dictate everything you choose, you’ll find yourself complacent. Conversely, if you take huge risks but fail to stabilize yourself, that’s when you’ll find your risks have “burned you.”

For whatever reason, I have always found that my life gets worse when I’m not aiming high and taking aligned risks.

In my experience, when I reduce risk, I also reduce ✨the magic✨ …and miracles seem to go on hiatus altogether.

My approach to risk these days is to stretch and stabilize.

Aim high. Stretch as far as I can… and stabilize myself in the new experience or desire.

Again and again.

When I choose the direction of my risks (which is another way of saying voluntarily choosing my pain), I also choose the direction of my growth…

I have found that the risks that are congruent with your desires are divine calls.🪞

While your soul, God, or your “GPS system” is giving you the directions to what you want, and some of those directions will inevitably include risk! Your job is to listen, follow, and stabilize your body.

Remember… your deepest desires are right.
Your soul is right.
You are always being guided.
