WHAT I’M LOVING (June 2025)

Hello hello,

I know it’s been a little while since I’ve written anything; I’ve been laying low recently as I’ve had some personal things going on. Hopefully I’ll be back to creating and recording podcasts soon… but of course, if you can’t wait for my creative flow to return, I suggest getting into the group chat since I’m in there all the time!

Anywho, today I thought it would be fun to show you all the things I’m loving right now, tell some stories, and keep it light.

Let’s get into it shall we?

TERRACOTTA

(yes, really)

I am absolutely obsessed with terracotta right now. Rich, rust orange, deep burnt red, clay… I pulled some images off of Pinterest so you can feel the vibe of it.

My attraction to this color was so strong I started to wonder what the energetic significance of it was aside from the typical associations with the chakra system blah blah blah. There just had to be a reason why I was so attracted to this color!

So here’s what I found:

  • depth, thoughtfulness

  • security and stability

  • belonging

  • maturity

  • warmth

  • grounding

  • emotional flow

  • slow steadiness

  • wisdom through personal experience

  • nourishment through tradition

  • creative and sensual rebirth

  • cultivating an inner sense of safety

Personally, these themes are super relevant for me at the moment, and perhaps they are for you as well! I have found over the years that when I have a strong attraction to something out of the ordinary, there’s typically something I need from it - even if it’s just a color.

And for your information, there’s a terracotta duvet cover sitting in my cart as we speak…

CRITTERS

I jokingly told everyone in the group chat last night that I’m having a Snow White moment… but frankly it’s been way longer than a moment. I have had so many animal encounters lately I can hardly keep track of them all.

Yesterday alone, I had 4 major animal encounters. FOUR!

The first one happened in the morning - I was watering the plants as usual, and a huge grasshopper flew out of the bushes and sat next to me until I was finished watering which is… quite odd for an insect. You would think it would have flown away, but apparently this is my new thing. The grasshopper patiently sat next to me as I watered, and once I finished, it jumped back onto one of the bushes.

The second one happened in the afternoon. I sat for a tea ceremony, and this was a big deal since it was my first tea ceremony in over a year and a half. At the end, when I was breaking down my station, I noticed a teeny tiny red spider running along my jianshui (this is the “water catching” bowl used for ceremonies.) The little spider was so adorable, it felt like a friendly visitor especially after that tea ceremony.

The third happened on my evening walk. It’s skunk season around here, and that means there are tons of baby skunks around. THEY ARE SO FREAKING CUTE! On my walk, I found one of these little skunks waddling along the road, I moved out of the way before I got too close just to make sure I didn’t scare it. I was so excited to get a visit from one on my walk.

And the fourth encounter was shortly after seeing the skunk. I was almost home when I saw some movement in the street, but it was a little too dark to make out exactly what it was. So I kept walking until it came into view.

A coyote!

We have plenty of coyotes around here, but I’ve never been that close to one before. He looked at me a couple times, but we walked right past each other as if it was just another Tuesday.

This was just yesterday that all of this happened, but the animal encounters have become more and more frequent over the past several months. I didn’t even tell you about the big owl that flew up and sat next to me in the middle of the day… or the evening when I saw a dozen bats (I didn’t even know we had bats here!)

Apparently I’m a magnet for all the forest creatures lately and I’ve been loving it. Yes please, more thank you!

CHILI & LIME ROLLED CORN TORTILLA CHIPS

(specifically the Trader Joe’s brand)

A couple weekends ago, I was hanging out with some friends and these particular friends always come loaded with snacks. Fresh fruit, pasta salads, trail mix, chips, the works.

My friends also brought these specific chili lime chips that day. I’ve seen them at Trader Joe’s before, but I usually stay away from chili products since they tend to be hit or miss… but my god, these were outrageously good, and I know exactly why! They’re suuuuuuper citrusy - very heavy on the lime.

As soon as I picked up the bag and tasted one, I couldn’t put them down. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them for weeks and finally bought myself two bags today. These are my official hyper fixation snack of the Summer.

THE SWEETEST LITTLE AUDIOBOOK!

(it’s literally like a warm hug)

Even though wealth is in the title and money is a focal point, the book doesn’t really feel that way if you know what I mean. It’s a short listen, 90 minutes, and it’s not like it’s full of some groundbreaking concept, on the contrary, the author holds many of the same sentiments I, and many other spiritual teachers have been discussing for years.

Instead, this book feels more like a conversation on unconditional self love, deep listening, receptivity, and ease.

To me, this book didn’t feel like a self help book or something that is urging you to buckle down and do some mindset work… it was exactly what I said earlier - a warm hug.

I found this to be soothing, reassuring, and laced with a very peaceful essence. Perhaps that’s something you could use right now. It just had such a sweet energy I had to share it with all of you.

THE MORTICIAN

(no spoilers I promise!)

The way I ran to restart my HBO subscription when I saw the trailer for this.

Personally, I have always found HBO to create some of the best docuseries like: The Way Down, The Jinx, The Vow, and that other one about The Mother God cult… I think it was called Love Has Won.

Anyway, once again HBO absolutely crushed it with this - it’s a 3 part, super-morbid true crime docuseries and I could not get enough! It just kept getting crazier and crazier the longer it went on… honestly, I was so bummed that it was only 3 episodes.

The craziest thing about this was 2 days before I watched this, I happened to be in Pasadena hanging out with some girlfriends. I drove for quite awhile on Orange Grove Blvd. to get to the location where we were meeting up - that just so happens to be the exact street where this story took place! Of course many locations are brought up throughout the documentary, but Orange Grove Blvd. is where the funeral home was/is. (I’m not sure if it’s still a funeral home under different ownership or if it’s changed.)

It was so odd watching this show because once I saw the location of the funeral home I was like “I WAS JUST THERE!”

If you like docuseries, morbid subject matter, or just want to hear a crazy story… watch it!

Alright my friends that’s all for now. I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun little catch up session. :)
